Purpose

 

The Guidance and Support Group is a subgroup of the Wolverhampton Learning Partnership established to ensure that support and guidance activities across Wolverhampton contribute to successful development and progression for all young people from 14 – 19 and are comprehensive, coherent and inclusive.

Terms of Reference
 

To oversee the development of:

  1. A ‘voice of the learner’ strategy to support 14 – 19 progression within the city.
  2. To commission work identified in the area wide Ofsted Inspection action plan which focuses on student support and guidance.
  3. Design and implement a strategy for communication with key parties such as parents.
  4. To aim support and guidance is in place for transition arrangements for students between education establishments or to employment or training.
  5. Identify and build upon local and national best practice.
  6. Aim that full advantage is taken of any national initiatives relating to student support and guidance.
  7. Aim that the support and guidance arrangements respond to the needs of specific groups of young people and do not create barriers to participation.
  8. Link with the other Learning Partnership sub groups such as CARD and ILP to draw together issues relating to support and guidance for students 14 – 19.
  9. To assist / support providers to utilise processes such as CARD and ILP to enhance their own guidance activities.
  10. To work with providers to identify new guidance approaches to support the training needs of delivery staff.
